Clicking/ticking sound when accelerating?

A possible quick fix to clicking is to use higher octane gasoline. But that's not the best answer because modern vehicles are engineered with compression ratios to prevent pinging on just Regular (87) gas. The true solution is harder to find. It could vacuum leak, ignition timing, or fuel filter like you suggested. Low fuel pressure is a possible cause of spark knock (ping).
